Join Blights Out and The Foundation Gallery for our September Art and Activism Event to benefit Blights Out! Blights Out will be in conversation with Loren Schwerd, and Cypress Building Conservation for a night of talks about democratizing development, architectural conservation, and the inherent dialogue between art and activism. Stop by for some wine, take in the "House" group exhibition, and support Blights Out!
$5 - $15 suggested donation. All proceeds from the door and 25% of proceeds from all sales benefit Blights Out!
The Foundation Gallery showcases the work of local and regional artists With bimonthly shows and other art events, the gallery strives to support artists and activism in our community and beyond. The gallery aims to support local and national non-profits by donating 25% of the proceeds from each sale made in the gallery and shop.
Loren Schwerd is a local artist and an associate professor of sculpture at Louisiana State University. She received her BFA in studio art from Tulane University and her MFA in sculpture from Syracuse University. Her series "Mourning Portrait" (on view) is a series of memorials to the communities of New Orleans that were devastated by the federal levee breaches that followed Hurricane Katrina.
Cypress Building Conservation is an architectural conservation company specializing in materials analysis and hands-on restoration. They bring together an understanding of historic building materials and technology to preservation projects by combining scientific analysis and graphic interpretation.
